A New Beginning...

Finally.....SEN10R year...a new year of high school followed by many mixed emotions. Being a senior, and "top of the school", is very exciting. This year is going to be full of many first for me......here goes nothing! :)

So, I am looking forward to many things...gymnastics season, meeting new people, and going into experiences and opportunities open minded. When my 7th period teacher, Mr. Smith, first introduced himself to the class, we all freaked out a bit. He sat in the front of the class room staring at us, QUIETLY, for five min. Mr. Smith did this to point out that "we are engaging in not just a class about sociology, but a study of sociology and, more important, becoming a sociologist" (SocioSmith, Mr. Smith). I am very interested in seeing what this class, and all my others, have in store and what I am going to take from them.

Please feel free to let me know what you think...:)

  1. I was a little intimidated when Mr. Smith stood in front of the class and stared at us for a while. I think that we do this to everyone we meet just not in the same way. I think while we are engaging in a conversation with someone we analyze them just as he did to us.

  2. Glad you enjoyed the first day! I like Leah's point that I was actually doing what students do to me normally on the first day...sit there quietly and just study me. I hadn't thought of it quite like that yet. Hope a taste of your own medicine on day one was good....kind of nice not to be the only one getting "reviewed".

  3. I agree with Leah and Mr. Smith, that when we first walk into class on our first day we are all quiet at firstand study our teacher and peers to see how they are and how they act whether we are talking to them or studying them as he studied us.
